Seeing the sea for the first time

The place was Portobello. The month was April 2005. I saw the sea for the first time in my life. Firth of Forth. North Sea. I couldn’t stop laughing. Then I was running- and running- and laughing- and running.

The Buchanan Embrace

I have never felt any particular sentiment for a bus station before but I loved Buchanan. Perhaps it was the convenient lockers where we left our bags while we took a quick tour of Glasgow. Perhaps it was the open layout of the terminal. Or perhaps it was the statue of a young couple caught in an emotion-filled embrace- saying: “Hello, my love. Welcome back!” that got me.
