The Buchanan Embrace

I have never felt any particular sentiment for a bus station before but I loved Buchanan. Perhaps it was the convenient lockers where we left our bags while we took a quick tour of Glasgow. Perhaps it was the open layout of the terminal. Or perhaps it was the statue of a young couple caught in an emotion-filled embrace- saying: “Hello, my love. Welcome back!” that got me.
What ever it was, it got me bad. I would go back to Glasgow just to sit at that bus station. That statue of the couple in an embrace is amazing. Not artistically. Socially. Emotionally. It captures the essence of what places like this are about. Hellos and Good byes. Outpourings of emotions even in societies that usually keep these bottled in.
And hey, if there are more people like me, the Scotland peeps might just consider making Buchanan Bus Station a tourist attraction…
Yes, now I know for sure. It was the statue that got me.
