Lost Luggage

Aeroplane De-icing at Amsterdam Airport
Amsterdam the next morning was cold. The ground was an endless white that promised to totally frost-bitefy me when I stepped out. Thank goodness it didn’t get a chance to keep that promise. The warmth of the airport terminal kept me away from its icy tentacles.
But it did frost-bitefy the aeroplane to Oslo. We had to wait for over an HOUR before take off because the engines needed to be warmed by some special engine warmer and then the wings needed to be de-iced. Having watched something on Air Crash Investigation about a plane that crashed because it was weighed down by ice on its wings I was kept from feeling impatient- by this and by Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus (which- by the way Blessing- after page 180 actually becomes quite exciting).

Oslo Airport Terminal
Oslo airport is beautiful. High ceilings long poles and huge windows make for a really picturesque terminal. For some reason my suitcase and I came on different planes. So there I was at the luggage carousel waiting, waiting. Bags came and went. People thinned out. Bags stopped coming. I started wondering how difficult it was to put a bag on a plane and went to make a lost-luggage report. Just as I was walking out I noticed that another plane from Amsterdam has just landed, so I go to the Carousel- Just in case. And Voila! There it is…
