It’s the 10th anniversary of the world famous- well maybe Zim famous- Cottco Rugby festival. Over 90 teams from around Zimbabwe will this week (21st to 26th April) lunge at each other upon the grounds of the traditional festival venue- Prince Edward School.
“This festival aims to promote the growth and development of schools rugby, while fostering good fellowship among participants who come from a variety of backgrounds…” reads the mission of the festival in part.

True to this, the festival incorporates traditional rugby playing schools and newcomers to the sport. A variation to this year’s festival intended to support new schools playing this sport is the selection of two “development” sides from some of the new teams. These sides will play sides from traditional rugby-playing schools on the last day of the festival- the most high profile day of the event as it draws thousands of spectators.
