Sold Out Tuku Show Caps HIFA 2008

HIFA 2008 came to rousing close on the evening of Sunday 4th May. The final main stage act, Tuku and Friends featured legends Louis Mhlanga, Steve Dyer and Tuku’s son Sam.
Another capacity crowd jammed into the Harare Gardens arena and went crazy when Tuku and his outfit stepped onto the stage just after 2030hrs.
Even as the show was beginning, outside the arena, a thriving black market was selling tickets (which cost Z$250m at the box office) for Z$1 billion…
^ Father and son. Tuku and son Sam on stage
Just as the concert began, my camera battery indicator started flashing the “low battery” warning. Unnnnnggggggghhhh!!!! What a bummer. But I spoke to it nicely and managed to get a few pics nontheless. Enjoy…

^ Crowd in motion. The most energetic dancinig by the audiences at HIFA was saved for the Tuku show. So was the loudest applause.

^ The Tuku outfit featured some new faces including some young talent

^ Two saxes at play. Steve Dyer and Sam Mtukudzi were on fire.

^ Steve, Sam and Oliver raise the tempo, bring down the roof .

^ As Tuku belted out his last song, fireworks went off to mark the end of the 2008 edition of the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA).
During the show Tuku called for peace to reign in Zimbabwe.
