International Day Against Child Labour Procession - Jason Moyo Avenue Harare

The International Labour Organisation estimates that there are 165 million children aged between 5 and 14 involved in child labour around the world.

12 June 2008 saw the commemoration of this day around the world. In Harare, the events to mark this day were held on 22 July.

A procession involving the police band, children from various schools and well wishers made its way down Jason Moyo Avenue to the Harare International Conference Centre.

The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Cde Nicholas Goche, in a speech read on his behalf by his secretaryCde Lancaster Museka said that the government was committed to stopping child labour and eliminate its worst forms.
