Successful HIFA Play to Show at Theatre in the Park

A scene from Loupe at HIFA 2008

From Rooftop Promotions

Coming from a successful World Premiere at HIFA 2008 where it was one of the best theatre shows. The Loupe received standing ovations from theatre buffs and even critics, and did an encore performance on the last day of HIFA by public demand. Loupe is set to thrill audiences again at Theatre in the Park from 10-25 July 2008.

Is he or isn’t he? How and why will it affect his brother’s legacy? Will his family accept it? Will his community condone or condemn it? Do you or don’t you tolerate it? Family bonds are put to test when Sizwe makes a shocking revelation about himself in “Loupe”, a production that made its world premiere at HIFA 2008 with a synergy of Zimbabwe’s vibrant energies in theatre. In the end, the play is a unique challenge to society’s of unique differences as it is fact that all cannot think, act, feel or react alike on all subjects.

Warrior Women of Zimbabwe- A Powerful Herstory

Chiyedza tells HerStory

I was moved to the core by Chiyedza Nyahuye’s performance in “Telling HerStory, Warrior Women of Zimbabwe”. This is a powerful play whose message begs it to be acted over and over again so that more people can see, hear and understand.

Chiyedza takes her audience on a journey through three hundred years of uncelebrated Zimbabwean women- and to a destination of triumphs dotted through the three centuries. She paints a poignant picture of strength and contribution often unseen and  undocumented by those who write the books of HisStory.

And on this journey she plays many roles. At times she is the legendary spirit medium Nehanda, at others a grade one pupil in just independent Zimbabwe, 1980.
