Tell me- how was his death,
Was it a scene of peacefulness,
Or did he seem to be in lots of pain;
Was it day or was it dark,
Tell me- did he whine or did he bark?
Did the clouds open up and did it rain,
Did streaks of lightning light the land,
Did claps of thunder shake the earth,
Was the sky a bright blue or a saddening grey,
Did the wind come and blow his soul away?
If only I'd been there to share in the agony,
I want to know- did it end in a moment,
Or was it a long struggle,
Did he fight for his life,
And did it come and go like a flickering flame,
O tell me-
With his last breath did he whisper my name?

Did the clouds open up and did it rain,
Did streaks of lightning light the land,
Did claps of thunder shake the earth,
